Reading OUR Way is an innovative reading program that has been designed to teach early reading and word recognition to children and adults who have strong visual-memory skills and therefore learn best through the whole-word approach to learning to read.
We are currently seeking expressions of interest from individuals wishing to participate in a community reading class aimed at helping struggling readers learn to read through a visual approach. This could be any struggling reader who you feel is not meeting their potential with their reading, reading comprehension, phonics and/or word recognition.
Studies have shown that approximately 1/3rd of classrooms contain highly visual learners. Our program will cater to their reading needs by delivering a targeted approach that is engaging and enjoyable for the learner.
We are hoping to start the class at the commencement of the 2018 school year. The class will be for all age groups and students whom you feel would benefit from our reading program. The class will be run from the Down Syndrome Association of Queensland office in Stafford once a week from the beginning and until the end of each school term.
There will be a fee of $150 to participate in the program ($15 per session for 10 weeks).
If you wish to have someone you know participate in the program, please fill in and return the following expression of interest to us at the address listed above or via email by Friday the 24th of November.
If you have any further queries regarding the reading program, please contact me at your earliest convenience.
